

Richard A. Daley of Newton, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born in Boston, MA and a longtime resident of Newton, MA. Richard had a brilliant mind and a true love of history. His passion for historical and political topics, reading about them and sharing his knowledge with others was one of his loves in life. Richard received his Master’s from Boston University, majoring in history. He continued his love for history teaching history at Edison School in Brighton, MA for his entire career. Richard had a full life and, in his retirement, enjoyed cooking and traveling.
He is survived by his sister Diane Greenfield and her husband Steven. Uncle to Ronald Greenfield, Ali Zirilli and her children Matthew Zirilli and Taylor Zirilli, Deborah Greenfield, Shana McAuley Lott and her husband Christopher, and Brooke McAuley Osterhoudt and her son Shrady Osterhoudt. Devoted cousin of Wendy Walker and her husband Carl and daughters Riley Ryan and husband Tyler Puleo, Kolby Ryan, and Ruby Walker. Lifetime friend of Lenny Erlichman.
Preceded in death by his parents William Daley and Josephine (Wolfe) Daley; brother Robert Daley and sister Susan Daley McAuley. A Funeral Service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. A celebration of life will follow at Tutto Bene Restaurant, 1050 Pearl Street, Brockton.
