

He was the son of the late Ellis and Etta Lack, and was raised in the West End of Boston and Beacon Hill. He graduated from Boston English High School in 1943, before enlisting into the United States Navy on January 20, 1944. During WWII he worked in supply and earned the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. During the Korean Conflict he was again summoned for duty. He served as a store keeper on the Battleship U.S.S. Missouri from 1951-1953, and earned the rank of SKG1 Petty Officer 1st Class.
After the war he attended Suffolk University on the G.I. Bill, where he earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. He worked extremely diligently to become Executive Vice President of the Boston franchise of Avis Rent-A-Car from 1962-1975.
He was installed in 1961 as a Free Mason 3rd Degree, and was a Brother at the Mount Tabor Lodge AF & AM. He was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 281 from 1962-1963. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory, and was also a Shriner belonging to the Aleppo Temple in Wilmington, MA. He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers for over 50 years.
His wry sense of humor was his trademark, and his generosity and love were his calling cards. He leaves many happy memories to all who knew him, but most especially his loving family.
He was the devoted father of Douglas Lack of Medway, and Roger Lack of Wellesley, proud and adoring Grandpa of Tyler and Ava, enduring friend to former wife Beverly Berig of Franklin, loving brother to the late Haskell Lack, the late Evelyn Sherman, and the late Marilyn Koocher, and the doting uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington St., Canton, on Tuesday, June 11 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
