Steven Howard Garber
24 octubre , 1950 – 3 octubre , 2020
Steven passed away on October 3, 2020, at the age of 69, after fighting a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. For the past seven years, Steve lived at Hebrew Senior Life Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale MA.
A very intelligent, passionate and sensitive person, Steve was well liked by those who knew him. He was a native New Yorker who graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Psychology from City College of NY.
Most of his adult life was spent in Denver, Colorado, where he was very active in local politics. He held positions in his district's Democratic party as Precinct Committeeperson and Finance Chair and was also a candidate for Denver City Council. Steve was active in several organizations including the Humanists of Colorado, Colorado Public Research group, and Rocky Mountain Skeptics. Steve spent several years performing extensive genealogical research and interviews and completed a robust family tree of over 2,000 relatives. He connected relatives from across the globe and documented over 150 years of family history, leaving quite a legacy.
Steve was the son of the late Max Garber z’l and is survived by his mother Rosalind Mandell, his brother and sister-in-law Gary and Eileen Brandes Garber, his sister and brother-in-law Janet Garber and Shelly Hanner, his nephews Michael Garber and Elie Fouere and his step-sister Jeanne Mandell.

Thank you, Mitchell, for your kind words.
Yes, Gary and I both remember meeting you at our house many years ago and again at Hebrew Rehab a few years ago. You were very nice and Steven was grateful for your friendship. We just looked you up on the family tree- you are actually a third cousin once removed! We hope all is well with you and both send our best regards!

I am very sorry to hear of Stephen's passing. We met through his research on Ancestry.com. My mother's maiden name was Garber; so we may have been distant cousins.
Stephen visited me twice to research the Garber family and I drove him to cemetaries and to research facilities in Woburn to aid in his research. We had corresponded often through emails.
He was very bright and I am grateful for the family information he gave me, and for his friendship. I visited him several years ago at the Hebrew Rehab when my mother was there after a hip fracture.
My condolences to his family, and to his brother and sister in law who were very gracious to me when we met.
