He was born January 14, 1952 in Canton, Ohio to the late Warren and Evelyn (McDaniel) Smith. Chris was a longtime employee of Republic Steel, and a fifteen year resident of Florida. He loved doing things with his family; the Pittsburg Steelers; and his dog, Nita. Chris also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, farming, and scuba diving.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy, of the home; children, Andrea (Damin) Deitrick, and Keely (Chris) Frasier; grandchildren, Kandice “Monkey”, Alec, Amber, Aiden, and Ollievia; sister, Brenda (Ed) Turley; brothers, Bill (Carolyn) Smith, Warren (Angela) Smith, and Greg (Michelle) Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jeff and Marilyn Chapanar.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday at First Baptist Church of Massillon, 20 6th Street SE, Massillon with Dr. Roger S. Alber officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 3-5pm Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1530 W Market St, Akron, OH 44313.
