Don moved to his new property in Heaven on January 26, 2024.
He was born in Chicago, IL in November of 1954. Don grew up in Canton, where he attended Junior High at Horace Mann and received multiple awards for track. He graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1974. From 1975-1977 he served in the Army in West Germany as a guard for missiles, receiving the Persian medal. Don reenlisted in the Army from 1980-1984. He was stationed in San Antonio and at Ft. Hood where he was an OR Technician, achieving the SP4 rank, with expert M16 and Marksman M60.
Don attended college several times to obtain an Associate Degree with a major in business studies. He became a US Postal Carrier for 16 years in Akron, and dabbled in real estate in 2002. From there he drove semis for several companies. Don decided to go with smaller loads for FedEx for seven years. He truly enjoyed being out on the road and being his own boss. In 2012, he retired to own and maintain real estate properties. His life revolved around his duplexes; mowing the two acres was one of his favorite things. He preferred to eat at restaurants to be around people, and to watch PBS and other informative programs. Don always had compassion for his tenants, friends, and family.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Moore in 2001; father, Elmer Moore in 2002; nephew, Jonathan Gray in 2002; and great-great nephew, Kaden Smith in 2018. He is survived by his sisters, June (Dan) Gray, Shirley Moore, and Betty (Randy) Fouts; brothers, James (JoAnn) and Eddy (Georgia) Moore; seven nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and great-nephews; one great-great niece; and one great-great nephew.
