

Born on November 25, 1922, in Canton, to the late Edward and Gladys (Reed) Riley, he lived a life full of bravery, humor, resilience, and hard work.
After graduating from Timken High School, his adventurous spirit led him to join the Army in 1943, where he served bravely as an electrician in the Corps of Engineers during World War II, particularly in Normandy, France, and the Rhineland. His dedication and courage earned him the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars, and the WWII Victory Medal.
After being honorably discharged in 1945, Donald continued his career as an electrician with Ohio Power and later with MotorNation. He eventually joined the Hoover Company, where he worked until his retirement in 1987.
Donald married Edith (Lefebvre) Riley, with whom he shared many years of marriage until her passing in 1989. Together, they cherished their travels, visiting France frequently and exploring England and Germany.
A man of many interests, Donald was passionate about photography, capturing the beauty of nature. He traveled extensively, with Wales being one of his favorite destinations. He was also a long-standing member of the Canton Camera Club.
Donald is survived by his children, Donald Patrick Riley and Nancy Hookey and her husband Tom, three grandchildren, Scott Hookey, Tommy Hookey, and Danielle Hookey, and many great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Donald is preceded in death by a grandchild, Patricia Ann.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Bethany Nursing Home Rehab and Advantage Home Health Services for their compassionate care and assistance.
Donald Paul Riley will be fondly remembered for his adventurous spirit, wisdom, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Per his wishes, Donald will be cremated. He will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery and Military Honors will be performed on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
