

Donna Jeanne Metzger, of North Canton, died April 21. She was born October 20, 1925 in New Philadelphia to Frederick J. and Mildred A. (Froelich) Maurer. Her family also lived in Dover, Sugarcreek, Baltic, East Canton, and Canton. She graduated from East Canton High School in 1943, and from Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She married Edward L. Metzger, Jr., of Canton, in 1948. She worked as a registered nurse in the office of Dr. Wm. T. Krichbaum, at Aultman Hospital, and at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, by her sister, Julia M. Regula, of Canton, and by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and inlaws. She is survived by sons Lee J. Metzger, of Fort Worth, TX, and Bruce P. Metzger and his wife Jan Hanley, of Woodland Park, CO, and by her brother, Dewey A. Maurer and his wife Cindy, of Cleburne, TX. Also surviving are brothers-in-law Bill Regula of Canton and Ben Clark of Phoenix, AZ, sisters-in-law Freda Hosler and her husband Les, of Germantown, OH, Lillian Sell and her husband Homer of Canton, and Norma Wagner of Canton, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ in North Canton, the Martha Women’s Circle, and served on various missions and service committees and church boards. She was active in the Aultman Nurses Alumni Association, and volunteered for the Aultman Blood Bank.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, April 26, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home in Canton. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 10:00AM at Zion UCC, 415 South Main Street, North Canton.
