"Together Again"
93, of North Canton, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Saturday morning Jan. 13, 2018 at the Canton Regency, where she had lived since 2012.
Elaine was born on the banks of the Shenango River in Sharon, Pa. June 20, 1924 to the late Edward Meehan (12/12/1878-12/08/1941) and Catherine (Taylor) Meehan (12/21/1885-01/01/1956). She lived in Sharon and worked at the Westinghouse Company until she met and married Joe Apisa on Nov. 17, 1956. They built a home and raised four boys together in North Canton. She was a member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton for 60 years and the North Canton YMCA. She and Joe had many close friends from Goodyear Aerospace and neighbors they loved for 50 years.
Besides Joe (08/08/1926-04/28/2002) and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Genevieve Clark, and brothers Howard, Edward, and Harold Meehan. Elaine is survived by her four sons Jay, Bryan, Doug, and Kurt Apisa, and daughters-in-law Carolyn, Kathy, Jan, and Pam. She also is survived by grandchildren Paul, Luke, and Christy Apisa, Dominic Apisa, Ashley (Josh) Moss, Corey Eggleston, Nicholas, Kevin, and Alex Apisa, and great-grandchildren Jersey, Aubrey, Lincoln, and Paisley Moss.
Elaine had a heart that was giving, she never complained, and even at the end of her life, she had put others before herself. She loved to laugh, and rarely could finish a joke or funny story because of her own laughter. She was proud of her husband, loved her children and their friends, and made a difference in her neighborhood and community. The world was better when she was in it.
There will be no calling hours, but a funeral service at Saint Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10:30 a.m. with a lunch to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: The ALS Association Norther Ohio Chapter on behalf of Joseph N. Apisa.
