

George was born August 14, 1944 in Canton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Timken High School. He worked for Edmont-Wilson Rubber Company before being drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served from 1965-1967. From 1966-1967 George was in CuChi, Vietnam serving part of the time as a tunnel rat. He was a Purple Heart recipient. George served as vice president of Petty's Auto Marine for more than 20 years; and worked at Lake Cable Printing for five years before retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post #375; and the Berkley Fishing Team, where he enjoyed sharing the sport of fishing with the local youth. He loved bass fishing at Lake Mohawk, and at lakes in Florida. George participated in OHSS and MTOC bass tournament circuits for many years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Scarpino; stepfather, Pat Scarpino; and father, George C. Buch, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine, of the home; daughters, Alicia (Clint) Paulette of Malvern, and Angela (Evan) Hammersmith of Lakewood, OH; grandchildren, Anthony, Alaina, and Adrianna Paulette, and Seth and Brock Hammersmith; and brother, Keven Scarpino.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW, Canton. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7pm, and on Tuesday from 10-11am, one hour before services at the funeral home. Thank you to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, Mercy Home Health, and Mercy Hospice.
