

Gladys Eileen Harper, age 88, of North Canton, passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home on Thursday, March 7th, 2013. She was born November 4, 1924 in Amsterdam, Ohio to the late Chris and Cecelia (Smith) Moffat.
She and her late husband, Russell were married for 60 years. She was employed by The Hoover Company for 30 years and retired in 1986. After retiring, they enjoyed spending 14 winters in Naples, FL at the Rock Creek Campgrounds. She took up the sport of golf in her early 50’s and agreed that “it never rains on a golf course!” Her love, kindness and generosity were felt by many who knew her. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in North Canton.
She was the fourth born of eight children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy & (Bertha) Moffat, RJ & (Virginia) Moffat and E. James & (Margaret) Moffat; and sister, Anna Lee Moffat. She is survived by son, Russell David Harper of Jacksonville, FL; and daughters, Linda & (Donald) Grisez of Uniontown and Sandra & (Lawrence) Criswell of North Canton; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren (twin girls on the way); and two sisters, Ruth & (Mike) Bomestar, Jean & (William) Woodside; and brother, Malcolm & (Ruth) Moffat.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday at the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens at a later date. Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stark County Humane Society.
