

He was born January 24, 1924 in Arequipa, Peru, to the late Charles A. and Luisa (de Romana) Gibbons.
He served in the US Navy and had a long career as a civil/geo-technical/environmental engineer beginning with Union Metal Manufacturing in 1948. In 1969, he was a founder of Engineering Science, a widely respected environmental engineering firm where he worked until his retirement in 1985. He held membership in Knights of Columbus, Elks, Beta Theta Pi, and Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Wild) Gibbons in 2004; sister, Elizabeth and brother, Charles. He is survived by his children, Kathryn and Bruce Johnson of Chicago, IL, Gregory and Patricia Gibbons of Western Springs, IL, Diana Gibbons of Vero Beach, FL and Richard Gibbons of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Chris and Akino, Matt, David, Katie, Torie, Kerry, Sally and John; and sister, Luisa Nugent of Savannah, GA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Friday, March 11, 2011 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 241 South Main Street, North Canton, OH with Rev. Msgr. James A. Clarke officiating. Entombment in North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call Thursday, 6-8pm in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
