

Jeanne M. (Kearns) Nash, 84, of Malvern, Ohio died Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born in Dorchester, MA daughter of late George and Florence (Morand) Kearns. She attended St. Marks and continued at St Gregory Elementary/High School. After graduating in 1953, with a BA in Chemistry and BA in Home Economics from Framingham State Teachers College, she taught Home Economics at Immaculate Conception (Waukegan, IL), and was a substitute teacher at Christ The King Elementary (Columbus, Ohio), and taught Home Economics and Bachelor Living at Bishop Hartley High School, Columbus, Ohio.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 62 years Robert J. Nash. She was a loving mother and devoted to her children: sons and daughters-in-law, Gerard and Linda Nash of Ellicott City, MD, Daniel and Susan Nash of Caldwell, ID, Peter and Roseanne Nash of Escondido, CA, William and Cherie Nash of Whitehall, Ohio, James and Joy Nash of Doylestown, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Nash) and James Rhodes of North Canton, Ohio; and son, Thomas Nash of Galena, Ohio. She is also survived by her brothers, Leo, David and Denis; her sisters Marie LeBlanc, Irene Hayes, and Sr. Louise Kearns, SND; her grandchildren, Chris, Christa, Stephanie, Rachel, Rebecca, Dustin, Robert, John, Daniel, Amy, Jennine, Kevin, Connor, Brandon, Logan, Bryce; and 16 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by 4 siblings: William Kearns, Dr. Richard Kearns, Paul Kearns and Elaine Weldon.
She loved and adored her two dogs: Princess and Queenie. Jeanne’s favorite color was red, and her favorite bird was the cardinal. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress, needle worker and crossword puzzler. She loved her iPad where she could enjoy Facebook and emails so that she could keep in contact with family, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. She enjoyed gardening and beautiful flowers. She enjoyed the outdoors camping and fishing. In her teaching career she taught Home Economics to many students including many difficult and challenged students in the schools. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Daniel Finnerty officiating. Friends may call from 4-6pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers Jeanne’s family requests that expressions of sympathy in her memory be made to Julie’s Family Learning Program in care of the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
