

John was born in Erie Pennslyvania to Kenneth and Margaret Oakes. He was raised in Northeast Pennslyvania with 1 brother Kenny and 2 sisters Karen and Julie. After leaving home he joined the 82nd Airborne Rangers and served at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
From there he met and married Elizabeth Tuhey and had 2 sons Jeremy and Jonathan Oakes. From there he traveled all over the United States working in the Cable Television industry. While in Lodi California he met and married Linda Mewbourn and they raised their son Joey Oakes in Ohio.
John was an Amazing Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Uncle. He lived a fulfilled life. John’s greatest joy was being a Grandfather, he was a Wonderful Grandfather to his 1 and only grandchild Bailey Jo Oakes.
John was a hard worker where he worked as a Cable Technician for the last 40 years. He was one of those people who could strike up a conversation with nearly anyone. The kind of person who would help anyone without expecting anything in return. The guy who thought he was 25 no matter how old he was.
Sleep well Pops. You will be missed by all who knew you and loved forever by those you left behind. You are never really gone because the memories we all have will never be forgotten. So until we see each again, I love you Dad
