John was born July 11, 1950 in Canton to the late John L. and Betty (Myers) Oberlin. On March 27, 1971, he married Diane Book and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage together. He worked for Timken for 33 years until he retired in 2002. He was an elder at Northwest Church of Christ. John loved to spend his free time collecting trains, working on models, and being out in nature. He was also an animal lover, especially of reptiles.
John is survived by his loving wife, Diane, two children, John R. (Lori) Oberlin and Jodie L. (Jeremy) Cline, two grandchildren, Jolie Oberlin and Kendal Cline, one brother, Steve (Pam) Oberlin, two sisters, Debbie (Dana) Anderson and Melissa Oberlin, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for John will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 5-8 pm and on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 10-11 am. Funeral services for John will begin at the funeral home at 11 am on Wednesday, May 4th with John Wright and Keith Kull officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
