

Lucie “Granny” (Collins) Flory Patterson Flory, age 74 of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep and entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. She had battled cancer twice during her lifetime.
Lucie was born in Big Springs, WV on March 4, 1941 to Rome and Hila (Whipkey) Collins. Over Lucie’s lifetime, she enjoyed hobbies such as reading, gardening, garage sales, going to flea markets, and bowling. Lucie contributed to many charitable organizations. She also helped out in some local soup kitchens during the holidays. Lucie loved sharing her free time with her family.
Lucie is preceded in death by her parents, Rome and Hila (Whipkey) Collins; her first husband, Glenn L. Flory, Jr.; her second husband, V. Keith Patterson; her son, Dale R. Flory; her brother, Ralph E. Collins; her sister, Alma M. Guertal and her husband, Robert Guertal; her sister, Shirley A. Motter; and special friend, Curt Faber.
Lucie is survived by her children, Kenneth H. Flory of Canton, Ohio, Dean F. Flory (Melanie) of Louisville, OH, David G. Flory (Tammy) of Canton, OH, Carol L. Shehan (Neal) of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Kelly S. Ferrell (John) of the home, Canton, OH.
Lucie is also survived by her grandchildren, Rose, Kenny II, Brandy, Randy, Dale II, Alexander, Christopher, Melissa, Brian, Wesley, Karista, Olivia, Nichole, David Jr., Natalie, John, special needs granddaughter, Jessica, Brittni, and Larry II. Lucie is also survived by many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and countless friends, including special neighbors Max and Kali Jobes. Lucie is also survived by her sisters, Sandra (Howard) Welch of Five Forks, WV, Delores Kelley of Parkersburg, WV, and Linda (Leonard) Metz of Grantsville, WV; sister-in-law, Hannah Collins (Ralph) of Canton, OH; and brother-in-law, John Motter (Shirley), of Canton, OH.
Over the years, Lucie worked for Boyle Midway, Echo Housewares, and GBS where she met many wonderful coworkers. She considered her jobs her second home, she was that devoted. Lucie enjoyed her temporary second jobs as a bartender; she loved people! “Granny” enjoyed her time with her little companion, Maggie Mae.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00am in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home.
