Patricia E Kappel

Patricia Ellen Kappel (Smith), age 87, peacefully passed away at home into the loving arms of Jesus on September 15, 2015. Born on March 16, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Agnes (O’Brian) and Alton R. Smith. On September 9, 1950, Patricia married her beloved husband, Henry Charles Kappel, who tenderly loved and cared for her. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Patricia is survived by her dear children, Hank and Lainie (Matthews), Mary Pat (Kappel) and Bill Gokee, Ann (Kappel) and Randy Hoffee (Yucaipa, California), and Mike and Chris (Frank). A loving grandmother to 15 and a great grandmother to 19. Patricia provided a family legacy of love, honor, trust, and respect for all people.

Raised in Chicago, Illinois, Patricia and family moved to Canton, Ohio in 1964. A devout Catholic, Patricia was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Ladies Guild in Canton, and St. Peter the Apostle Church in Naples, Florida. She attended Northwestern University in Chicago, and graduated from DePaul University in Chicago in 1947.

An accomplished pianist, Patricia studied at Julliard School of Music in Chicago receiving many awards for artistic excellence. As a member of Naples Bath and Tennis Club in Florida, Patricia was an avid swimmer and enjoyed playing tennis over the years. She also was a member of Chi Delta Alpha Sorority and Lake Cable Women’s Club. Enjoying taking trips together, Henry and Patricia traveled to multiple countries over the years. Her gentle and kind heart will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home from 6:30-8:30 PM, and St. Michael Catholic Church (both in Canton) at 10 AM on Monday, September 21, 2015. The Funeral Mass of the Faithfull will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11 AM on Monday, following the calling hours. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memory Garden with reception following at St. Michael Catholic Church.
