A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Andy will be laid to rest at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Andy grew up in San Francisco, California, where he graduated from high school. He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War and proudly served his country. Andy was a Christian who loved the Lord God and lived with a quiet faith that showed in how he treated others.
Andy loved the simple joys of life. He enjoyed fishing, traveling on cruises, and trying his luck at the casino. He was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, and some of his happiest moments were spent attending Giants games with his family.
After moving to Ben Wheeler, he found peace and contentment surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of a close-knit community.
Known for his kind heart, Andy made sure the little things never went unnoticed. He always had candy on hand for the kids when they came by, and though he was a quiet man, he was always present and ready to help when someone needed him. Those who knew him best called him “Pops,” a reflection of the steady, dependable role he held in their lives.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Marcolina Maldonado and Monserrate Medina; his first wife, Jeannette Dane Maldonado; and his Godfather, Cirilo Gutierrez, who raised him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Joanne Maldonado; his sons, Andrew Maldonado, Jr. and wife Jennifer, and Anthony Maldonado and wife Elena; stepdaughters, Priscilla Gore and husband, Cody, and Joanna Jenkins and husband, Isaac. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Isabel Gonzalez-Velarde, Jacob Maldonado, Nathan Maldonado, Andrew Maldonado, III, Johnnie Jenkins, Jessie Jenkins, and Jordyn Jenkins. When Andy and Joanne moved to Ben Wheeler, their neighbors welcomed them with open arms and treated them like family. In addition, he leaves behind many dear friends in California, and new friends in Texas, especially Mrs. Martha, Mrs.Oleta, Mrs. Debbie, and others, who became an extension of family and a cherished part of their lives.
Andy will be remembered as a devoted father, husband, brother in Christ and friend. His love for his family, his generosity toward others, and his quiet strength will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
