Elmer Duane Olson

A funeral mass for Elmer Duane Olson, 85, of Canton, Texas at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton, Texas, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home. Father Jesudoss Thomas officiating.

Elmer passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on February 5, 1938 in Emporia, Kansas to Marion Oscar Olson and Martha Clark Olson.

Elmer grew up in the Emporia and Kansas City Kansas area. He joined the US Navy in 1955. Elmer married his one true love, Geraldine Kuhnen on July 20, 1957. The couple has had a beautiful life of 66 years together. After his time in the Navy, Elmer became an air traffic controller. After Elmer retired after 30 years and the couple then traveled in a RV for 20+ years before settling in Canton, Texas.

Elmer enjoyed going to Shreveport and playing dice. He was a fixer of anything and everything. Cars was one of his favor to tinker with. Elmer was a jokester, he was always setting up and playing a jokes, giving people a good laugh and smile. Elmer loved life, the Lord and his family. The best days were spent with his grandchildren. Elmer will be dearly missed, but live on in the hearts and memories of all that knew and loved him.

He is preceded by his parents, Marion and Martha Olson; several of his siblings.

Those here to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Geraldine Olson; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Trang Olson; grandsons, Johnny Olson and Timothy Olson; siblings and a host of other family and friends.
