Fred Luis Walker, 74, a resident of Northlake, Texas, passed away on May 23, 2026. Born October 20, 1951, in Olongapo City in the Philippines, Fred came to America with his family at the age of eight and settled in Grand Saline. He grew into a gifted athlete and later graduated with the Class of 1971 from Grand Saline High School.
A man known for steady devotion and a tireless work ethic, Fred built a remarkable career as an equipment tech for Texas Instruments in Dallas. After 42 years of dedicated service, he retired to enjoy a life centered on what mattered most to him—home, family, and the everyday blessings shared with his beloved wife, Mona.
Fred and Mona shared nearly 49 years together, marked by deep companionship and a simple, enduring joy in traveling side by side—Mona chose the destination, and Fred, always ready, packed a bag and went. His love for family was constant and evident, and some of his happiest moments were spent with his grandchildren and grand dogs, whose presence made ordinary days feel like the best days.
In daily life, Fred was the one who could be counted on—often found tinkering with this and that, and just as often the first to step forward to fix what needed fixing. His willingness to work with his hands and his heart reflected a quiet strength and a dependable spirit that those around him came to trust.
Fred was a man of strong faith, living his life deeply rooted in God’s word. Offering his time and care in service to others and to his church family, he served faithfully as a deacon for many years.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Connie and J. C. Newbrough; mother in-law, Gloria Herron; father in-law, Arlee Herron.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mona Walker; daughter, Ashley Deen and husband, Sam; son, Cameron Walker and wife, Amber; grandchildren: Kyler Walker, Aubrey Inman, Witten Inman, George Deen; brothers, Jake Newbrough and wife, Kim, Doyle Newbrough and wife, Jackie; brother in-law, Matt Herron and wife, Nichol; sister in-law, Donna James and husband, Bennie; nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
