Geneva Janet Ballard

Geneva Janet Ballard, 85, of Canton, entered the gates of heaven on July 31, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Geneva was born on August 8, 1939 in Garland, TX to Rev. Clarence Elmo and Ana Pearl Lawrence Cox.

Geneva is preceded in death by daughter, Sally Elaine Gilmore; parents C.E. and Ana Cox; sister, Ann Davis and two husbands: Frank Pope and Eddie Roberts.

Geneva is survived by husband, Steve Ballard; three daughters: Renee Hyde and husband, Tim of Canton, TX, Lisa Davis and husband Charles of Mabank, TX, Chloe Marie Ballard of Canton, TX; bonus children: Josh Ballard, Brandy Patrick and husband Scott, Lori Nell Roberts, Kelly Roberts, Marty Roberts, Lindy Roberts and wife Anna and Sonya and Eric Ward; ten grandchildren: Jason, Kerri, Kim, Brandi, Bubba, Rachael, Haley, Regan, Jacob and David; sixteen great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Knox, Kenna, Kannon, Kenzie, Kyndal, Mateo, Kambri, Royal, Cordell, Meadow, Brody, Ryelin, Ethan, Lucy and Geneva; great-great-grandson, Jett; and numerous other bonus family members.

Geneva grew up in Garland and Sachse, graduating from Garland High School. Geneva began her bookkeeping and tax service in 1966 retiring at the end of 2025. Geneva was a genuine lady who loved the Lord more than anything. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 5 years old and ministered faithfully from that time forward, teaching Sunday School and talking about the Lord to her clients. Her children and grandchildren considered her a saint. Geneva loved music and played various instruments, but her favorite was playing the piano. She played for The Norrell Quartet for over 30 years. She also loved traveling and was able to visit every state except Hawaii.

Funeral services will be held on 2:00 pm Monday, August 4, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX. Visitation will be Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 5pm – 7pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Haven of Memories. Services will be officiated by Bro. Gary Bell and grandson Jacob Turner Gilmore.

Pallbearers will by Jason Hyde, Kannon Hyde, Jacob Gilmore, David Gilmore, Bruce Dalme, Hank Wilson, Darrin Stine and Knox Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be David Cathy, Marty Roberts, Kelly Roberts, Lindy Roberts, Donnie Roberts and great-great-grandson Jett Reavis.
