James went home to the Lord on November 29, 2021 in Grand Saline, Texas. He was born in Wills Point, Texas on March 28, 1929 to James Harvey Furrh, Sr. and Era Mae Bishop Furrh.
James grew up in Wills Point and always consider that home. He was a hard worker even as a child, James headed straight for the cotton fields and put in a day's work. He did a man's size work. On December 1, 1950 he married his one true love, Billie Ann. He was a member of the Wills Point Masonic Lodge and Barn Fellowship Church in Grand Saline. As a soil technician for USDA he took pride in his work and felt strong responsibility for the soil. He always made sure his mother had a beautifully kept yard and garden. James was a humble man and was always doing for others, even working in cotton fields to help out his family, long after he had a family of his own. James loved gardening, antique tractors, working on small engines and watching football. He had several garden spots on his farm and enjoyed giving produce to friends and family. He had started recording Dallas Cowboys and other games on VCR and DVD. James has a very large collection of taped football games. He was a caring and loving man. This wonderful man is in heaven, dancing with his bride of 70 years.
James is survived by his daughter, Debbie Furrh Phillips; granddaughter, Taylor Ann Phillips; brother, Ted Furrh; sister, Peggy Ingram; brother-in-law, Bobby and Barbara Birdwell; nieces and nephews; a host of friends and church family.
He is preceded in death by his beloved, Billie Ann Furrh; son, Stephen Dale Furrh; parents, James and Era Furrh; brother, Blake Furrh; sisters, Pat Furrh Doane, Rena Young, Topaz Lea.
Interment will be at Haven of Memories in Canton, Texas.
