James Boyd McFerrin

Services for James Boyd McFerrin, 79, of Canton will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton, with Bro. Carlton Young officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home. Interment will be in Haven of Memories.

Mr. McFerrin passed away January 4, 2017, in Tyler. He was born July 15, 1937 in Westminster, TX to Isom Calvin and Annis Lee Gentry McFerrin.

James was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church and the Son Shine Bible Class. He graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math. He married Virginia Roberts on June 27, 1959. Mr. McFerrin proudly served in the US Army in Korea. He worked as a systems analyst for Chrysler for 18 years and retired from Baker Hughes in Houston after 22 years. He and Virginia moved to Canton in 2003.

Mr. McFerrin is preceded in death by his parents. James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia McFerrin of Canton; 3 sons: James McFerrin, II and his wife, Monique, of Georgetown, TX, John Mark McFerrin and his wife, Maria Rossana, of Magnolia, TX, and Steven McFerrin of Boynton Beach, Florida; daughter, Caroyl Gilbert and her husband, Benny, of Missouri City, TX; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and brother, Michael McFerrin and his wife, Cathy, of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Joshua McFerrin, Zackery McFerrin, Shawn McFerrin, Matthew Robinson, Kyle Roberts, Russell Roberts and Brady Roberts.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
