A celebration of life graveside service for James Lee “Jimmy” Tucker, Sr., 90, of Mabank, Texas will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, September 29, 2023, at Sunny Point Cemetery in Cumby, Texas with Tony Tucker officiating. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 am at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas.
Jimmy was born December 18, 1932, in Edgewood, Texas to Vernon Lee and Opal Morine (Smith) Tucker. Growing up Jimmy was very energetic and always liked to talk. He never met a stranger and made friends with everyone he met. While Jimmy was working at one of his first jobs, he spotted a co-worker’s daughter coming to visit her mother at work and Jimmy made the comment to his fellow co-workers that he was going to marry that girl….six weeks later they were married! Jimmy and Leota joined in holy matrimony on July 19, 1952, and were blessed with 65 wonderful years together. During that time, they loved to go camping, fishing and to travel across the country enjoying the scenery. Jimmy proudly provided for his family by working hard every day. He drove a truck most of his life until he retired then drove a school bus for 27 years for the Mabank and Kaufman School Districts. On his days off, Jimmy enjoyed gardening and sitting back watching a good western channel marathon. In his later years, Jimmy had fun during the holidays by playing Santa for local businesses and bringing smiles to children’s faces.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his treasured wife, Leota Tucker; grandson, Robert James Tucker; parents, Vernon and Opal Tucker; brother, Charles Tucker; and sister, Morine Tucker.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved family, sons: Jim Tucker, II and Marie, David Tucker and Jill; daughters: Gail Dailey and David, Michele Cole; grandchildren: Jason, Tony, Chris, Kaytlin, Sean, Liam, Meagan, Aidan; great grandchildren: Tiffany, Taylen, Serenity, Karlie, Eli, Jackson, Andrew, Alyce, Matthew, Harlan, Daman; and numerous nieces, nephew and other relatives.
