

J.C. White passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, in Canton. He was 91 years old. Services for Mr. White will be held 11 am Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Roger Hart and tom Moore officiating. Interment will be in Tidmore Cemetery in Van Zandt County near the Henderson County line.
J.C. was born October 8, 1932 in rural Martins Mill, TX to Charlie Lee White and Lillie Jewel Wilson White. He had one brother, Junior Lee White. J.C. attended school in China Grove through the 6th grade. He went from 7th grade and on in Martins Mill school., and then at the age of 20 was drafted into the Army to serve for 2 years.
After service in the Army, J.C. worked for a short time at Burton-Dixie Mattress company in Dallas, Texas. He then worked for Park Lane Hat Factory for 6-7 years and then a coffee table company for 1-2 months. Finally he employed with Sears-Roebuck & Company on Lamar Street in Dallas from 1955 to 1992 (36.5 years). He retired from Sears in June of 1992 at the age of 59. Also for about 10 years J.C. did watch repair out of his home workshop.
At the age of 12, J.C. was baptized at Bush Lake by Bro. Pitts at which time he became a member of China Grove Baptist Church and has remained a lifetime member. On June 21, 1953, he married his beloved Norma Jean Nations and together they were blessed with 2 children, Ricky Jay White and Linda Joyce White Box. Later at the age of 48, on January 2, 1980, he married Carmen Hernandez Roundtree and they were blessed with 36 years together. They chose to attend the Canton Church of Christ for over 30 years.
In retirement J.C. and Carmen enjoyed lots of fishing, playing music, RVing, and gardening. J.C. and the County Music Makers was formed in 1993 and J.C. and Carmen along with their grandchildren performed at several nursing homes including Heritage Manor, Canton Nursing Center, as well as in Athens and Grand Saline Homes. J.C. was gifted in playing guitar, mandolin, the bass and dobro, while Carmen could play the drums, bass and a little piano. In 1997, they started traveling and RVing to Bluegrass Festivals and to the Valley (Donna, TX). Later in retirement, J.C.'s hobbies included building birdhouses, knick-knack shelves, and picture frames for all of Carmen's puzzles.
J.C. is preceded in death by his wife, Carmen; parents, Charlie and Lillie White; and brother, Junior White.
J.C. is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sharon White; daughter, Linda Box; five grandchildren: Christopher and Charyse Rose, Time White and Katy Shipp, Brian Box, Matt and Brittany White and John and Josey Box; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tim White, Matt White, Christopher Rose and John Box.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
