Jimmy Wayne O’Neill, 68, of Ben Wheeler, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 21, 1956, to Aline and J.H. O’Neill, Jim was the second of six children. Both of his parents preceded him in death. He lived a life marked by love, hard work, and devotion to family and community.
In April of 1991, Jim married the love of his life, Kathy, and together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, partnership, and unconditional love. Jim was a devoted husband and an amazing father to his five sons — Jason, Kevyn, Carson, Andrew, and Taylor—and a father figure to countless others through his years of coaching youth sports in Mesquite, Texas. His influence on and off the field left an enduring impact on generations of young athletes who looked up to him as both a mentor and father figure.
A proud graduate of Bryan Adams High School, Jim followed in his father’s footsteps into the plumbing trade, working for the family business, A-Line Plumbing. He later established his own plumbing company before joining the City of Dallas, where he served faithfully for 21 years until his retirement.
Jim found peace and joy in the great outdoors. Whether he was sitting quietly in a deer blind at sunrise or casting a line from his bass boat, he cherished the moments spent in nature with his wife, children, and close friends. His laughter, his wisdom, and his enduring spirit made him the heart of every gathering.
Jim’s legacy will live on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the memories shared around a picnic table and a cold beer.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his wife Kathy; his sons Jason (wife Kasha), Kevyn (wife Hailey), Carson (wife Samantha), Andrew (wife Jessica), and Taylor (wife Brooke); his 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his siblings John, Deanna, Connie, Lynn, and Lori; his extended family; and the many friends and young people whose lives he helped shape.
A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
