JoAnn Whittenberg

Services for JoAnn Kirkland Whittenberg, of the China Grove Community, are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Joe Ballard & Rev. Roland Alsobrook officiating.

Burial will be in Haven of Memories, Canton, TX.

JoAnn went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 27, 2014, in Palestine, TX.

She was born February 13, 1929 in the China Grove Community to Joe Ernest and Mary Ann Morris Kirkland. JoAnn was a member of the China Grove Church and the China Grove Women’s Quilting Club. She was also a member of the Canton Iris Garden Club. She attended the Martins Mill School and lived most of her life in the China Grove Community.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, R.E. “Bob” Whittenberg, Jr. and her brother Kellis Kirkland.

She is survived by two daughters: Onna Darlene Loper and her husband, Mike, of New Meadows, Idaho and Brenda Johnston and her husband, Bill, of Palestine, Texas. She is survived by three grandsons: Barron Loper, Wade Pierce and Roland Johnston; three granddaughters: Desa Beene, Kerri Barnett and Melissa Snider; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers: Foy, Don and Robert Kirkland; and two sisters: Betty Hinderer and Cora Loper.

Pallbearers are: Bill Whittenberg, Jr.; Roland Johnston; Wade Pierce; Barry Barnett; Herman Snider; Howard Harris; Johnny Walker and Adam Don Kirkland. Honorary pallbearers are: David Kirkland; Bryan Kirkland, Barron Loper and Kelvin Smith.

Family will receive friends Tuesday 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
