Mrs. Stuart passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at her home in Canton. She was born January 20, 1925 in Dallas to Nester Lechen and Etta Mirand Godfrey Shelton.
Laura graduate from Lone Oak High School. She lived in California for a short time and then returned to Dallas. She and her husband moved to Canton in 1971. She enjoyed gardening, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Stuart is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George D. Stuart; daughter, Patricia Ann Rucker; granddaughter, Wendy Gail Wade; two brothers: Howard and Leslie Shelton; and a sister, Vera Quarels.
Laura is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Doug and Eva Stuart of Canton; daughter, Linda Fay Langford of Del Rio; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Ray Shelton; and two sisters: Marie Luedeker and Thelma Jean Mageors.
Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
