Funeral service for Lois Marie Thompson, 88, of Canton will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Midway Church of God with Bro. Dwayne Mixon officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thompson passed away peacefully on March 3, 2020 in Dallas. Lois was born in Wood County to Barney Cox and Mable Harrell Cox. She grew up in the Karnack and Winnsboro area. She was Pentecostal by faith. Lois was a hard worker all her life. She had been dispatcher and bookkeeper for her sons' business for many years. Lois loved yard work and burning leaves and debris. Her favorite pastime was running her weed-eater! No one’s property was off limits to her grooming! Her sons and others would come home to find their yards had been manicured, as well as the church property where her son, Jack, preaches. Lois’ favorite saying was “Don’t forget the weed-eater!” She was a vibrant woman, who was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Lois is survived by her sons and their wives, James “Larry” and Judy Thompson, Jack and Mary Thompson; grandchildren, Darrell and Kathy Thompson, Alex and Annie Thompson, Michele and Brian Butcher, James and Jana Thompson, Magean and Greg Whaley; 3 sisters and their husbands: Durene and Kenneth Vess, Pattie Crass, Darlynn and Charles Young; 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Mable Cox; husbands: James Thompson and Carroll Thompson; son, Terry Mack Thompson; sister, Novelle Mims; and great-great-grandchild, Ellie Mae Richards.
