

Services for Marjorie Alford Gilmer, 95, of Dallas, will be held 2:30 pm Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Todd Peavy, Bro. Mike Chism and Dr. J. E. Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories.
Mrs. Gilmer passed away September 15, 2024 in Terrell. She was born July 27, 1929 in Winnsboro to Andrew Bennett and Clara Harrellson Alford.
Marjorie graduated from Pickton High School and then attended Eastfield College and Dallas Baptist University. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of White Rock for 77 years where she taught the Ladies Bible Study Class. Marjorie really enjoyed Gospel music. As a young woman, she and her sisters formed a Gospel trio named The Alford Sisters. They sang on KSKY Radio for many years. She taught High School Bible credit for Dallas ISD for 17 years. Marjorie retired from MSA Safety after 34 years of service. She loved watching sports, especially baseball.
Mrs. Gilmer is preceded in death by her husband, H. T. Gilmer; parents, Andrew and Clara Alford; and four brothers: Leo, Truman, Jerry and Harvey Alford.
Marjorie is survived by her two sons and their wives: David and Connie Gilmer and Kent and Elizabeth Gilmer; four grandchildren and their spouses: David Gilmer, II and Jenni, T.J. and Andrea Gilmer, A.J. and Maggie Gilmer, and Deanna and Wayne Cummins; eight great-grandchildren: Scarlett Sidley, Margot Sidley, Maggie Gilmer, Cade Watson, Hally Gilmer, Ada Gilmer, Simon Gilmer and Isaiah Gilmer; and two sisters: Mary Ruth Allen and Frances Wheeler.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
