Martha and Edd were dear friends. I worked with Ed for years and loved visiting with them when they would be in their booth at Jewel’s restaurant. I accidently discovered Martha’s obituary on line, and felt so bad not knowing .

Just seeing that sweet face brings back so many memories!  I can't say they were all good, though; I could never learn to skate backwards, and I never had anyone to couple skate with!  Haha!  Mr. J tried to help me skate backward, but it was no use.  And my hands still begin to sweat profusely when I hold hands, so I had given up on couple skating long ago!  I remember Martha was the "bad cop" and Mr. J was the "good cop".  Martha was the one who kept order (I can still hear her on that PA system giving directions like, "All skate-change directions!" then playing another song like, "The Tide is High" or "The Eye of the Tiger".   She was fair, but firm as she "kept" all of Canton's youth on Friday nights!  As I think about it, there's no telling how many young people that would have otherwise gone astray had it not been for the Canton Skating Rink.  It was good, clean, fun, which exercised the whole body, not just your thumbs!  I remember the very first--open air tent rink with only fans to cool us before they built the metal building. When Ed and Martha took my whole family to Six Flags! Who even does something so sweet! I don’t know that I ever would have gotten to go if it weren’t for Ed & Martha! We laugh and talk about the old times growing up at the skating rink. I went on to operate a roller rink myself for 23 years. My happiest memories are with them on skates! 

This precious lady was always there for our family. When we lost our parents 3 months apart she was there for us long after they had passed. She had such a loving and caring spirit. I will truly miss her. By the way my parents were Jim and Nell Golden. Prayers for the family.

Oh how we will miss this sweet lady.  She loved the Lord and  had a servant’s heart for others.  So thankful  to have called she and  Ed our friends!  Praying God’s perfect peace for each one of the family as you share all those precious memories.  We love you all and will continue to pray for God’s comfort during the upcoming days ahead.

Miss Martha was an awesome lady !!!  She watched over all of us at the skating rink as if we were her own.  She always had a smile on her sweet face when she greeted everyone. Her & Ed were more than just a friend to many they were family !!! I know she’s in heaven and I imagine her with her crowns ,wings and a new pair of heavenly skates !!! Miss Martha will be tro missed. My heart goes out to Ed & the rest of her family.   

Kathy’s Kiddie Korral went skating every week at Canton Skating rink during the 1980’s and 1990’s.  We loved Martha and Ed Jamison.  They helped every child in Canton to learn to skate. Martha will be greatly missed.  Ed you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.                          With love. Kathy Robinson
