A visitation and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary grew up in Pittsburg, Texas. She came from a big family of ten children and a house full of love and laughter. Mary was close to her siblings all her life and dearly loved time with each and every one of them.
Mary raised and nurtured a family of her own. She was known to many as “Smiling Mary” and she always smelled beautiful. Her children and grandchildren loved hugs that had the sweetest smell and smiles that warmed their hearts. Mary biggest joy was time with family.
Our sweet Mary rest in the arms of Jesus and the family finds comfort in knowing they will see her again.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Adell Hitt; son, Cecil Van Salone.
Mary is survived by her children: Tina Black and husband, Marvin, Dina Scott, Selina Gonzales and husband, Hector; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; sisters: Kay, Wanda, Dorothy, Jo and Nell; brothers: Paul, Harvey, Obrey and Robert; many other family and dear friends.
