

Services for Ouida Mae Williams, 90, of Mesquite, will be held 10 am Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home with her grandchildren Kimberly Houston, Jeff Van Meter and Derek Buchanan presenting messages and memories in her honor. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Visitation will be hosted at 9am, directly preceding the service.
Mrs. Williams passed away January 16, 2025 in Sulphur Springs. She was born July 28, 1934 in Martin’s Mill to Zereth C. Chaney Sr. and Ora Alice Elizabeth Johnston Chaney.
Ouida grew up in Martin’s Mill. After she graduated from high school, she worked for a variety of businesses in various office positions. Her passion and favorite job was being a stay-at-home mother and grandmother. Together with her husband of 47 years, she loved hosting family for special occasions and holidays. Ouida was affectionately known as "O'ma" by her family and friends. She loved hamburgers, driving backroads, nature and journaling. Ouida & Harold were active members of several Baptist churches, the last one being Friendship Baptist Church of Mesquite.
Mrs. Williams is preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Williams; her parents, Zereth and Ora Chaney; brother and sister-in-law, Sonny and Dorothy Chaney; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Naoma and Dick Landers, Vivian and Bill McMillan, Janell and Ward McMahan, and Beth and Bryant Crocker. O’ma is survived by her daughter, Radondah (Dondi) Van Meter and husband, Rick; son, Erik Chaney Buchanan and wife, Elida; adopted son, Ben Acosta; four grandchildren and their spouses: Jeff and Tiffany Van Meter, Kimberly and Matthew Houston, Derek and Aida Buchanan, and Carly and Garrett Hinton; three great-grandchildren: Wade Houston, Hannah Van Meter and Grant Houston; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ouida’s name to the SonShine Center at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church at 3018 N. Beltline Road, Sunnyvale, TX 75182.
