A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating his life at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Daniel Holmes officiating.
Roy grew up in the Dallas area and later in the Eustace area. He led by example as a man with honest work ethics and dedication to the job at hand. Roy, for many years, was the youngest Master Electrician to have passed the Master Electrician Exam in Dallas. He was an Electrical and A/C contractor for many years. His first company was Apex Electric, then later Perkins Electric, before becoming the General Manager of North Kaufman WSC and retiring after 32 years of service.
Roy was a 59-year member of The Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas. He was initiated in the R.C. Buckner Lodge in October of 1966, Passed in October of 1967, and Raised a Master in February of 1968. He changed his home Lodge from R.C. Buckner to Pine Lodge #203 in Ben Wheeler in 1998, until it was dissolved and merged with the Colfax Lodge #904 in Van, Texas. He was the Mayor and Honorable Municipal Judge of The City of Oak Ridge, Texas for many years. At the same time, he served as the District 12 Director of the Texas Rural Water Association (TRWA) for many years.
Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling in his free time. Time spent with family was most important to him. He would often suggest having a cookout and getting together—usually with the plan being that his sons would do the cooking. Roy dearly loved his family, and he will be remembered warmly by those who knew and loved him.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Archie Enoch Perkins and Bobbie Faye Smith Perkins; brother-in-law, Bob Yates; and nephew, Bryan Yates.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Yates; sons: Kevin Perkins and wife, LeAnn; Greg Perkins and wife, Robbi; Clint Perkins and wife, Kari. Grandchildren: Courtney Smith (Adam), Spencer Perkins (Kacee), Amanda Woodard (Charlie), Brittany Drake (Dustin), Curtis Perkins, Wesley Wilemon (Laurie), Jeremy Wilemon (Brittany). Nine great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and a multitude of other family and friends.
Roy will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
