

Sheila Jean Melton, 79, of Canton, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. She was born on July 22, 1946 in Kilgore, TX to John C. and Betty L. Melton. Sheila lived a life devoted to her faith, her family, and her community.
A longtime resident of Canton, TX, Sheila was a cherished member of Canton First Assembly for over 40 years. Her dedication to her church was evident in the many roles she fulfilled there. She lovingly served in the nursery for countless years, caring for the youngest members of the congregation with warmth and devotion. Additionally, she took pride in serving as the church custodian, ensuring that the house of worship was always prepared for its members. Sheila’s unwavering love for the Lord was at the center of her life and inspired all who knew her.
Sheila found immense joy in spending time with her family. She treasured moments shared with her nieces and nephews and delighted in watching them grow. Her love extended to an abundance of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who were blessed by her kindness and care.
Sheila is survived by her sister Lana Glenn of Alexander, Arkansas; her brother Keith Melton (Kim) of Kilgore, Texas; and her nieces and nephews: Jonathan Glenn (Florence) of Benton, Arkansas; Christy Glenn of Alexander, Arkansas; Amanda Williams (Scott) of Bryant, Arkansas; and Brian Glenn (Shelly) of Alexander, Arkansas. She also leaves behind numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish their memories with her.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents John C. Melton and Betty L. Melton; as well as her brothers Michael M. Melton and John "Kevin" Melton.
Sheila’s legacy is one of faithfulness, love, and service. Those who knew her would tell you that you never had to wonder what she was thinking, she was never shy about sharing her thoughts and carried just the right touch of spice that made her uniquely herself. She touched the lives of many through her work at Canton First Assembly and through the deep, meaningful bonds she shared with those closest to her. If you were blessed to share a hug with Sheila, you knew what a true, loving embrace felt like.
A Visitation will be held on March 8, 2026, from 01:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Canton First Assembly 801 TX-243 immediately followed by a funeral Service at 2:00 PM.
