Being a Navy veteran, we can safely say he was "sold" at the first site of the sparkling waters of the Caloosahatchee and the various canals nestled within the neighborhood in Cape Coral, Florida. He was a boater his whole entire life. In his early years, he attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree. He served his country proudly, having obtained an honorable discharged disabled Veteran from the Navy. Alan retired from the Massachusetts State Police, Commodore and lifelong member of the Braintree Yacht Club, Pass Commander and lifelong member of Braintree DAV, Board Member and resident of Orchard Boulevard Association, lifelong member of the Elks Club and a proud member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
He was a man with a big heart and never hesitated to help when asked. Grandfather always love being around people. He had a great sense of humor and always was in a good mood. He loved to travel, go on cruises or just be out on the boat with his wife, friends and family. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten
Alan is survived by his wife, Beverly Boyd; his son Alan "AJ" Boyd Jr.; and his daughter in law Brenda Boyd; his sister Shirley Moore, and a host of many grandchildren and great grandchildren that he loved dearly.
Alan was preceded in death by his daughter Maryann Boyd and his daughter Deborah Boyd; his brother Edward Boyd.
A visitation for Alan will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991, followed by a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
