Born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 21, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marian (Rapisardi) Cala. Anna Marie lived a full and vibrant life, guided by curiosity, creativity, and a deep devotion to her family and community.
In her early years, she worked as a medical assistant, a role that reflected her steady, compassionate nature. She later discovered her talent for real estate, becoming a realtor and eventually founding her own real estate appraisal company—an accomplishment she took great pride in. Her professionalism, integrity, and determination shaped a career that inspired those who knew her.
Anna Marie always had a natural penchant for growing things, but she truly bloomed after moving to Cape Coral. There, she discovered her love for African violets, tending them with remarkable patience and artistry. Her delicate, vibrant plants didn’t just thrive—they dazzled—earning her several “Best of Show” awards and the admiration of fellow growers. Her dedication to the hobby extended into leadership as a past president of the Gulf Coast African Violet Society, where she shared her knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow growers.
At home, Anna Marie found joy in the kitchen. She loved to cook, experiment with recipes, and collect cookbooks—tons and tons of them, each one a treasure. She also enjoyed playing bridge, a pastime that brought her friendship, laughter, and lively competition.
Some of her most cherished memories came from her years as a Den Leader with the Boy Scouts and a troop leader with the Girl Scouts. Guiding her children and their friends through these formative experiences brought her immense pride and happiness.
Anna Marie will be remembered for her warmth, her spirited independence, and the many passions that colored her life. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved, the communities she enriched, and the countless lives she touched along the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bonbrake Rinick, Jr and her two brothers, Robert Cala and Carroll Cala.
Anna Marie is survived by her three loving children, Jolee Rinick, Gregory Rinick and Jeffrey Rinick; honorary daughter, Laura Onzo; six grandchildren, Joseph, Danielle, Sara, Scot, Carissa and James; as well as one great granddaughter, Willow.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Anna Marie will be placed with her husband in Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL following the Memorial Mass.
