Benjamin Alongi

Benjamin Alongi, 92, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. He was born in their family home on January 20, 1931, in Prizzi, Sicily, the son of John Alongi and Carmella Tuzzulino. He had two sisters, Tina and Rosalie.

After his mother passed away at thirteen, his father moved his family to New York City, where he previously lived and ran a business for twenty-five years before returning to Italy and marrying his mother.

Benjamin met his wife, Ann Casella, while attending high school. Before marrying, he served in the U.S. Army. After marrying, he managed a men's clothing store in Hempstead, NY. After years as a manager, he opened a men's clothing store in Sayville, NY, and later moved his store to Stoney Brook, NY. After years in the clothing business, he sold the store and opened Benito Tailoring in Roslyn, NY. In 2008, he purchased a home in Cape Coral, Fl, and retired with his wife and son. Ann passed away on June 2, 2018.

His children and grandchildren survive him. Daughters: Lee Carr (George) and Diane Friedman (Jeff); Sons: Robert Alongi and Paul Alongi (Lina Garcia); Grandchildren: Dustin Bauerle, Mathew Bauerle, Tamara Harding, Bryan Friedman, Steven Friedman, Ben Alongi, Maggie Alongi, and Chance Anderson; Great-Grandchildren: Vincent Harding, Scott Harding, Aleniah Moore, and Quinn Alongi.

A service for Benjamin will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11am with Entombment to take place after the service at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery; 950 Chiquita Blvd. S., Cape Coral, FL 33991.
