Donna Waring, born July 14, 1941, passed peacefully on February 12, 2026, in Fort Myers, FL, at The Preserve. Born in Queens, NY, Donna spent a year of her childhood in England and grew up in a lively family of five children in Denver, CO.
As a young woman, Donna volunteered with the USO, she met the love of her life, Byron and married him on June 25, 1964. They shared 59 years of marriage marked by devotion and focus on family. Before welcoming two daughters, Donna worked as a CNA; she later spent more than 25 years as a sales associate with JCPenney.
Donna loved the outdoors, gardening in the sunshine, trips to the beach, and quiet afternoons by the pool, but nothing brought her more joy than family gatherings at home. She is remembered for her laughter and her positive and sometimes sassy personality.
Donna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Byron (October 13, 2023), her twin brother, Donald, and her parents, Marie and Bryan. She is survived by her sisters Jenna and Regis and her brother Kent; her daughters, Tammy Day and Tina Churchill, husband, Michael; her grandchildren Edward, Krista, William, and Byron; and her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Owen.
Honoring Donna’s wishes, she chose anatomical donation, and the family will hold a private day of remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna’s memory to The Preserve Employee Appreciation Fund, in gratitude for the loving care Donna and Byron received in their final years:
