

Evelyn Jeanette (Small) Morris, 95, of Cape Coral passed away Sept. 9, 2018 in Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale. Born August 1, 1923 in Notasulga, Alabama to Epsie Louise (Smith) Small and Lawrence Sylvester Small. Evelyn served as a dedicated R.N. first in Columbus, Ga and then Cape Coral until retirement from the offices of Drs. Dawson and Tate where she had resided since 1964. She was a cheerful, kind and reverent lady who loved and cared for her family. She loved to fish, garden and bake. She took care of her grandchildren whenever the opportunity arose and in her later years delighted in the company of her greatgrands. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her son John Daniel, his wife, Linda (Aten) of Pompano Beach; grandchildren John Daniel II, (Melissa) of Winter Haven; and Jeanette Elizabeth Benson (Brian) of Boca Raton; great grandchildren Johnathan, Elizabeth and Sammuel Morris; nieces Judy Smythe and Susan McBrayer and great nieces and nephews; Emily, Joshua, Elizabeth, Nathan. Preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Henry Morris (2005) and her beloved younger sister, Dorothy Scarminach (2008). On Sep. 15, a private service was held in Coral Ridge Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Eric McCrea of Pine Island United Methodist.
