

Jack Lloyd Shannon went to eternal rest on January 24, 2025. He was born in Aurora, Illinois on 12/22/1947 to Emma Mae and Eugene Morgan Shannon. He is now with his parents and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who passed before him.
Jack will be missed by all. He was a very spiritual person and prayed every day. I am sure he is God’s care now where he is pain free and with his loving family.
Jack is survived by his wife of over 24 years, Cynthia Shannon, as well as their pets Emma Mae (Dog), Mickey (Dog), Hermann the German (Cat), and Snowy (Cat). He is also survived by his siblings; Dennis Shannon, Elaine (Michael) Doran, and Geni (Kevin) Montgomery, as well as his brother-in-law, Ronald (Christy) Strong, and parents-in-laws, Ronald and Marion Strong.
Jack had many nieces and nephews, Brian Welter, Stephanie Shannon, Christina Shannon, Joshua Albright, Nicole Albright, Rebekah Albright, Anthony Doran, Nathan Strong, Sara Strong, and Jason Strong, along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Jack was a veteran on the Vietnam War where he was sprayed, repeatedly with Agent Orange thus causing his Parkinson’s Disease later in life. He also suffered from PTSD based on his war experiences. He was a lifelong member of the VFW lately of Post 7221 in Naples, Florida. He was also a lifelong member of the Aurora Turners Club where he played sports. And also a lifelong member of the American Luxemberger Club where he cooked breakfast.
He had a great many friends and was active in football and softball most of his adult life and as a child. He had a long career in machinery and warehouse receiving, retiring only when his Parkinson’s became too advanced.
Graveside funeral services will be held on February 13th at 11:30 a.m. in the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241, where he will be buried with full military honors. (Please arrive at least 15 minutes early.) Luncheon will follow at Marina Jack in Sarasota. A prayer memorial service will be held on February 15th at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral Florida at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 8th Noon-4:00 p.m. at the Aurora Turners Club in Illinois.
