Jim Wait

James was born on December 6, 1961, in Aubern, New York. His parents were Charles Wait and Doris Bertollini.

James worked on his family farm in Syracuse, NY for most of his childhood. He attended Cato-Meridian High School, but left before graduation to work at Guidone Farms in New York to support his whole family. He attended National Tractor Trailer School in Liverpool, New York, and upon graduation received his CDL. He went on to receive his HVAC EPA 1 and 2 Certifications, and owned and operated a successful HVAC Company in Syracuse, New York.

James had married Theresa D'Orazio in Syracuse, New York and went on to have one child, James Wait II. After he retired, James moved to Cape Coral, Florida, and eventually married Carmela Wait. James and Carmela run a lawn maintenance & landscaping company.

James was also an instructor at Arthur Miller Dance studio in New York, and he thoroughly enjoyed ballroom dancing. He especially loved to Swing Dance. Some passions he enjoyed throughout his life included boating/sailing, fishing, camping, gardening, classic cars, and outdoor activities. He was a motorcycle enthusiast since his childhood - a true Harley Davidson Man.

James was predeceased by Charles Wait and Doris Bertollini as well as his step siblings. He is survived by his sisters Doris Wait, Charlene Wait, and other step siblings. He is also survived by his son James Wait II; his wife, Carmela Wait; his step sons Dylan D'Orazio and Justin D'Orazio, well as his step daughter Erica Clarke.

James was a giver by nature, and lent a hand to anyone in need, including strangers. He truly cared for people, and was very social and outgoing. He was a natural born fixer and a Jack of all Trades. He had a zeal for life. His twinkling blue eyes went hand in hand with his boyish grin and jovial attitude.

Funeral Services are being held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 950 Chiquita Biva S, Cape Coral, FL 33991.

Viewing will take place from 10am to 1pm, with a burial to follow on premises.
