He was born February 5, 1918 in Belleville, Illinois, and adopted as an infant by Louie and Mamie Gallo.
He served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Richmond in the Aleutian Islands. After the war he worked many years in industrial construction, building power plants in the US, South America, and the Middle East. He retired in 1984 as a supervisor with Chas. T. Main, Inc.
He and his wife Mitzi moved to Florida that same year to relax and play golf as long as humanly possible. They recently celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by their Royal Tee Country Club family.
He is survived by his beloved wife Helen (Mitzi) Gallo of North Ft. Myers. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter Sharon Derby (Charles), his stepson Richard Jones (Lori), his granddaughter Madison Jones, all of Virginia, and granddaughter Marla Smitters of Illinois.
No service will be held, but the family asks that any memorial donations in his name be directed to assist our US veterans.
