On Saturday, July 29 Louise Capps of Cape Coral, FL made her journey to heaven to be with the Lord. Born October 9, 1942 to Clarence and Ruth Barrick in Anselmo, Nebraska, Louise grew up helping on her family’s farm. After high school, she first attended the University of Nebraska and then the University of Kentucky where she graduated with a Bachelors in Nursing. She married William Harold Capps, Jr. in May 1968 and they were married until his passing in August 1997. Shortly after getting married they moved to Key West, FL where they lived until they welcomed their first child, Melissa, in August 1974. They then moved to the Ft. Lauderdale area where they welcomed their second child, William III, in November 1977. A few years later they moved to the Cape Coral area where Louise resided until her passing.
Louise was a dedicated and caring nurse for over 40 years. She worked in all areas of the nursing field with the majority of her career in dialysis nursing. She worked in several of the Lee County hospitals and outpatient centers until her retirement. Even after retirement and until her final days, she was always a nurse.
Louise had an immense love of reading, especially anything and everything nonfiction. She always had a love of learning about the past and the present. She also had a love of animals, gardening, sudoku, the color purple, and all things chocolate. And while she was small in size, she was larger than life in stature, sass, fighting for what was right, and the occasional colorful words.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth; her sister Althea; her brother Paul Ray; her husband William Jr; her son William III; her in-laws William and Dorothy Capps; and her brother-in-law Mike Capps.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Boatright (William); sister-in-love Carol Capps; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who are family.
As Louise was not one for big parties or events, she asked for no large service. She asked that if you would like to honor her to please do so by donating in her name to one of her favorite charities St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A memorial page has been set up in her name.
