Born on February 27, 1943, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Mary Ann was the beloved daughter of the late William and Bertha (Lumley) Welsh. She began her career as a Registered Nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others, but her true calling was in business. With remarkable intelligence and determination, she went on to own and operate two Assisted Living Facilities in Minnesota alongside her son. In 2007, she proudly built a facility for the local hospital’s chemical dependency program, a testament to her vision and commitment to serving her community.
Mary Ann’s love for animals was boundless. She cherished her four Pomeranians and found joy in the company of cats, birds, chipmunks, and countless other creatures. Her home was a sanctuary for nature, where she delighted in spending time by her pond, watching the beauty of wildlife unfold. Gardening was another of her passions—she nurtured flowers and plants with care, creating a vibrant and peaceful space that reflected her spirit.
She will be remembered as a woman of strength, intelligence, and compassion, whose life touched many through her work, her love of animals, and her devotion to family and nature.
Mary Ann is survived by her two sons, Tom and Tim Lewellyn; one sister, Patricia Johnson; three brothers, Jack, Ron and Dan Welsh; as well as her two grandchildren.
