Rick and family, we are very sad to just now learn of Mary's passing this life. Your Mary was a true delight to all of us and a real trooper in her world! Mary was a great student and a friend to all in our start up Lewis College Of Law, Glenn Ellyn, IL first class.  My condolences to her parents, husband and children.  We'll miss her but always have her wonderful memories.  Former classmate James P. Barr, Esq.

Mary had an incredible knack for gift-giving. Any gifts I received from Mary and Rick showed they knew what my interests were, whether the gift was a greyhound shirt or book, a polar bear ornament, or later a gluten-free cookbook (she loved the cupcakes I made from the book they gave me). Mary and I shared a love of Moody Blues music. One of my most treasured gifts is the collection of Moody Blues CDs she copied for me having borrowed them from the library. I listen to them in the car and think of Mary each time I do. Probably one of the first topics we talked about when we met was our love of James Herriot's books. The last time I saw Mary smile was when I played my Pink Panther ring tone for her. Turns out, she was a fan of the Pink Panther movies as I am. Mary, I will miss our chats, and the latest stories of "guess what the dog did?"  We sure laughed about our dogs.

I met Mary and Rick when my late husband, Brent Lock, played softball with Rick for Lakeview Hospital in Danville, Illinois. We always had such a great time cheering them on. I remember Mary as someone who loved life. My prayers are with Rick and family.

It's so hard to believe that 47 years have passed since Mary and I became friends as freshman at Purdue.  I know there were times we could have studied harder, but it was nearly impossible to resist the mischievous twinkle in Mary's eye.  We dreamed up some crazy hijinks.  To me, that twinkle represented Mary's love of life. It stayed with her through all life's ups and downs.  It got her through instantly becoming a mom to 3 then 4 kids.  That twinkle reflected her love of Rick, kids, family and friends.  And it stayed with her even through the long years battling one of life's cruelest diseases.  So when I think of Mary, I think of the mischievous twinkle in her eye and I smile.

Mary was an honest lawyer and a spirited parent -- one of the best people I have ever known.

So sorry to see Mary's passing, she was a fighter and a great gal!  You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know when services will be held in Peoria.

Mary, you always struck me as a fairy, floating around school and seeing what kind of trouble you could rouse.  Your smile lit the room. Always had a twinkle in your eye. God loved you and so did we.  Lead on in Heaven as you did here.  Bless you.

I am so sad to learn we have lost another classmate. I remember Mary fondly as an intelligent woman with a beautiful smile.  I love this picture just as I  remember her. My sympathy to her family and friends.

I am saddened by your passing Mary. You were always so full of life when we attended school and were always involved with the class. We had many good times together in the classes we had. I pray you are at peace. My condolences to the Newbould and Zeleznikar families at this sorrowful time.
