Melba Jean Clemons Christensen

Melba Jean Clemons Christensen, 97, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her home surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Alfred. Jean is survived by her daughters Jackie (Tim) Corkhill, Linda (David) Fore; a special niece Gina (Scott) Peterson; grandchildren Brian Curls, Aaron Curls, Kristin Corkhill, Nathan Corkhill, Lindsey Peterson, Scott Ryan Peterson, Tyler Peterson, and MacKenzie Peterson; six great grandchildren; siblings Norman F. Clemons and Marie Waggoner; stepson Charles (Enrica) Christensen; step-grandchildren Michael Christensen, Greta Young, Michelle Mohr, and Greg Christensen; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jean was born in the Florida panhandle on November 10, 1915. The third of seven children, she moved with her family to Ft. Myers in 1924. After time spent in Miami, she returned to N. Ft. Myers in 1949 with her husband Al to raise their family. With her brother Norman, they owned and operated Trail Dairy Farm and Trail Dairy Mill in N. Ft. Myers. Jean and Al retired in 1972 to a life of travel and time spent with family.

Jean lived her 97 years to the fullest. She was a strong, loving woman who was an example to everyone who knew her. Jean enjoyed staying active and challenging her mind. She debated politics, actively followed the stock market, and welcomed all into her home. Jean’s happiest times were spent with family and her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She leaves behind a family that will love and miss her forever.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, FL. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Grace Church, 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral with Rev. Wayne Godsmark, officiating. Burial will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
