Born on December 16, 1942, in Providence, Rhode Island, Phil was the son of the late Leigh and Margaret (Morrison) Kendall. He grew into a man known for his kindness, humor, and the unmistakable joy he brought into every room. Even in his final days, Phil’s wit and warmth never faded.
Phil lived a life rooted in simple pleasures and genuine connection. He was the kind of person who made everyday moments feel special—whether sharing a laugh, lending a hand, or simply enjoying the world around him. He loved getting out of the house, whether it was going to the beach, catching a movie, or finding a new place to eat. For Phil, life was meant to be lived, savored, and shared.
For 39 beautiful years, Phil shared his life with his beloved wife, Joyce. Their love story was full of laughter, adventure, and authenticity. One of their favorite memories was their wedding—married in jeans by a justice of the peace, with the granddaughter of the justice of peace serving as their witness. It was perfectly them: simple, heartfelt, and full of love.
Phil and Joyce divided their time between New Hampshire and Florida beginning in 2013, eventually making Florida their permanent home in 2021. Wherever they lived, they built a life filled with companionship, humor, and countless cherished moments.
Phil will be remembered as a man who made the world lighter for those around him. His kindness, his fun-loving spirit, and his unwavering ability to find joy in the everyday will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
