Robert Kenneth LePage, known to friends and family as Bob, passed away peacefully at his home in Cape Coral, Florida, on Friday, March 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife and three sons. He was 83 years old.
Bob was born in Passaic, New Jersey, on September 19, 1941, to Loretta Podles LePage and Louis LePage. He grew up in Rochelle Park, New Jersey, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a passion for cars and mechanical work. He graduated from Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, NJ, and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. As a young man, he spent summers at Lake Hopatcong, where he discovered his enthusiasm for boating, a pastime that remained with him throughout his life. Later, he returned to the lake with his wife, children, and in-laws, Eva and Arthur Schnaars, continuing the tradition of lakeside gatherings with family.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Bob was a prominent NHRA DIV 1 NED (Northeast Division) drag racer, competing with his 1957 Chevrolet Night Runner. Beyond the racetrack, he enjoyed snowmobiling in the winters and high-performance boating in the summers, always drawn to the thrill and excitement of speed.
Bob and his wife, Elayne, built a life together in Paramus, New Jersey, where they raised their family with a foundation of hard work, integrity, and unwavering dedication. As an entrepreneur and skilled auto mechanic, Bob owned and operated Bob's Garage in Emerson, New Jersey, for more than 40 years. His love for automobiles, particularly Corvettes, was more than a profession; it was a lifelong passion. An avid collector, restoration expert, and investor, he found immense satisfaction returning classic cars to their former glory. His enthusiasm extended beyond his garage; as a founding member of the Class Glass Corvette Association of Bergen County, NJ, he built a community of friends and fellow enthusiasts who shared his passion.
In retirement, Bob and Elayne traveled up and down the East Coast, following the seasons to embrace warm weather and waterfront living. Summers were spent fishing and boating at the family's River House in Arcadia Park, Fisher’s Landing, New York. There, surrounded by remarkable friends who became extended family, he found peace on the water and in the camaraderie of those who shared his love for the river. Winters in Cape Coral, Florida, offered sunshine, relaxation, and the comfort of time spent together.
Bob was deeply respected by all who knew him. He had a keen intellect and an exceptional ability to solve complex problems, whether in his work, hobbies, or daily life. A quiet and kind man with a sharp sense of humor, he was hardworking and devoted to his family. He was always willing to lend a hand, exemplifying generosity, loyalty, and a steadfast dedication to those he loved.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Elayne Schnaars LePage, and his three sons, Craig, Mark, and Scott. He was a proud grandfather to Jaxon, Kendall, and Chloe, and Charlotte, Henry, and James. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Holly, wife of Craig, and Annmarie, wife of Mark, who were cherished members of his family. Additionally, he is survived by his brother,
Roger LePage, and his wife, Arlene, along with their children, Allison, Kristen, Jacqueline, and their families.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers or gifts, those who wish to honor his memory may consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that was close to his heart. Friends and family who wish to contribute may do so in his name at https://www.stjude.org/donate
His brother, Roger, captured Bob’s lifelong impact best:
"He cast a long, long shadow. He earned a huge amount of respect in 83 years. He was a model son, brother, husband, mentor, racer, father, mechanic, builder, investor, fisherman, grandfather, and friend. It will take quite some time to really appreciate all that he did."
