Roy was proud to have served in the United States Army. In 1970, the family moved to Fort Myers, Florida, and in 1974, he founded Florida Forklift.
Through the years, Roy had many hobbies and interests, and loved having his family join him. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and later dune buggies with Millie, Cindy, his sons, and his nephew at the Rock Pits (now Lakes Park) and Big Slew in Charlotte County. He played softball for many years in the Under 50 League, Over 50 League, and then played in the Over 60 League into his 70’s, with Millie as the team scorekeeper. He loved bike riding, and impressed family and friends when he rode 30 miles to celebrate his 80th birthday . . . on a pedal bike, not an electric! Roy became an avid kayaking enthusiast, even building a launch station from the canal. Roy and Millie loved camping with their friends in the local WBICC (Airstream) club in Florida parks, with favorite campgrounds being Franklin Locks, Highlands Hammock State Park, Koreshan State Historic Site, Oscar Scherer State Park, and Alafia River State Park. He was even President of the local Wally Byam Club at least two times, with Millie being Treasurer. He was a long time follower of Edgar Cayce. Roy was always willing to lend a hand and help out friends and neighbors with their cars, trucks, campers, or anything else.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 54 Years, Millie; siblings, June Wall and Robert Dalrymple and his wife JoAnn; his children, Roy Dalrymple and his wife Lynda of East Setauket, NY, Cathy Tileston and her husband Jon of Odessa, FL, David Dalrymple and his wife Yadira of Quitman, GA, Cindy Syms of Fort Myers, FL, Edward Dalrymple of Inglis, FL, and Daniel Dalrymple and his wife Deborah of Fort Myers, FL; Grandchildren, Justin, Gabrielle, Christopher, Emily, Marc, Amber, David, Teri, Brooke, Paige, Raven, Matthew, Michelle, and Devon and Great-Grandchildren, Leo, Mia, Nico, Violet, David, Lucas, Max, and Madeline.

Roy will be buried at Coral Ridge Cemetery in a private ceremony with military honors on September 17, 2024. A memorial will follow at noon at Fort Myers Christian Church, 5916 Winkler Road, Fort Myers, FL 33919, to allow family and friends to gather, reminisce, and share a meal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hope Hospice or Fort Myers Christian Church.
