

Ruby May Best, 88, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20th, 2024. Ruby was born in Jackson, Tennessee on Friday, September 13th, 1935 to Malissa Elmira Caldwell and Vernie Adison Caldwell.
Ruby worked in bookkeeping, antique dealing, and running her own small business. She regularly attended First Christian Church of Cape Coral. Ruby was passionate about collecting furniture, linens, and glassware. She also loved shopping at thrift stores, volunteering for Hope Chest, working on computers, doing puzzles, watching reality television, drinking wine, traveling, dancing, and loving on all animals, especially her late best friend Roxy the Shih-Tzu.
Ruby was a devoted wife to a military husband and followed him to Army bases around the world, including England, Germany, and all over the United States.
Most of all, Ruby was happiest surrounded by her family. Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children Cynthia Milligan, Barry Milligan (Rhonda), Angela Fiore (James), grandchildren Justin, Desiree, Kayla, Brittany, Rebecca, Morgan, Andrew, Brady, Berkley and 6 great-grandchildren, with a 7th on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings James Walter “JW”, Ruel Ray, Charles Edward, Edna, Vernice “Cookie”, and Imogene “Jean”.
A visitation for Ruby will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991, followed by a funeral service. A private graveside service will occur for the family.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Ruby’s favorite charity, Hope Hospice.
